Rules and Guidelines (in no particular order)
1. As the official IAPH question and answer forum, the group should not
be used for general "chat", person to person emails, or general 'thank you's'
etc. (Unless you are using the specific area designated for chat - i.e. the "Chat Forum")
2. Questions can be asked by ANY Member. Comments and replies should
only be offered by experienced Member. An ‘experienced Member ‘is:
A Council Member, a Training Analyst, a Member who has been in practise
for at least 5 years, or a Member who (for some other reason) has
specific experience relevant to the question
3. To avoid unnecessary duplication before posting your question please
browse through the message archive using the search facility (you need
to be logged into the yahoo group in your browser) to see whether the
topic has already been discussed and answered.
4. When starting a topic for discussion always provide the fullest
subject heading - e.g. 'Emetophobic client session 7 - please help'
5. Posts should always carry the Members full name, Town/Country
in which they practice, and length of time as an IAPH (or ICHP) Member
6. If you want to post a particular message anonymously, please email
the question to a group moderator (or Rob) and they will post it for you,
without showing your details.
7. Questions should only be posted to the group as a whole and NOT to
individual members.
8. When replying to a forum topic (a post, or a question), please do not
change the subject of the topic.
9. Content of the emails should carry only as much detail of symptoms,
treatment and factual content as is absolutely necessary to illustrate
the problem while respecting and retaining the client's confidentiality
and privacy both professionally and morally.
10. Only IAPH approved seminars, master classes or other such Continual
Professional Development (CPD) seminars and courses may be advertised
to the group.
11. The posting of hand-outs, scripts, general information leaflets,
forms, adverts etc is POSITIVELY ENCOURAGED - however, please send the
attachment to a moderator (or Rob) BEFORE you post it - to make sure
the information on it is up to date, and in-line with the IAPH's current
policy.
12. The written word is not a good medium for most professions. Throw in
a bit of neuroses, and a large dose of transference, and it means that
even the most sensible therapist can take/read/post things the wrong
way. Before replying to a post, try to understand the question that was
asked, not the way in which it was asked. If in doubt, please ask
poster for clarification.
13. This is a private, confidential support group and this should be
respected. Members need to feel that they can be honest and open,
without worrying about being ridiculed or put down. Members also need
to know that they can post sensitive material - without worrying that
their material is going to be passed on, outside this group. Any
Member caught passing on ANY info/post from this group onto a third
party - FOR ANY REASON - will face disciplinary proceedings. If in
doubt, ask a Council Member.
